TINNITUS TREATMENT
Tinnitus (ear ringing) affects approximately 15% of the adult population. Unfortunately, the real reason behind tinnitus cause in most cases remains unknown. Nevertheless, there are certain methods and procedures for eliminating ringing in the ears, one of which is low-level laser therapy (LLLT). This method has been used since the late 80s of the last century and is completely painless. This type of tinnitus treatment is available in all Bontech clinics.
PROCEDURE
Low-level laser tinnitus therapy begins with an otoscopic examination. The first condition that must be met is the patency of the auditory canals (ear canals) of the person who opted for this type of treatment.
Furthermore, it is necessary to take an ear print on which a person experiences tinnitus (it is common that the prints of both ears are taken) in order to make an individual fiber optic earmold. Such an earmold is necessary so that the laser can illuminate the eardrum and the wall of the inner ear. When the fiber optic earmold connects to the laser, the procedure can begin.
After 10 sessions that last 20 minutes, the therapy is done. The procedure takes place in a comfortable lying or sitting position.
If necessary, the new laser treatment cycle can be repeated.
Treatment effectiveness
Before the therapy itself, the person fills out a form in which he or she evaluates the intensity of his tinnitus. In addition, after completing 10 treatments, a person fills out the same form to judge the success of therapy.
Although one study of the Croatian leading audiologists (Drviš, Trotić, Ries et. al., 2013) argues in conclusion that the tinnitus treatment with laser technology is effective for treating chronic subjective tinnitus, unfortunately the success of eliminating tinnitus with this therapy cannot be guaranteed.
