Kanalna slušna pomagala - nevidljiva - Bontech

Compact and simple – Invisible-In-Canal Hearing aids are designed in a unique way so that all components are placed in a custom-made shell and they are completely placed in the ear canal.

There is not a single part that rests behind the ear. These aids are no different from other air-conductive hearing aids since they contain almost the same basic components. The only difference is their shape, but the main components are the same as in Behind-the-ear hearing aids. They are available in several sizes, which is depending primarily on ear anatomy, but also the degree of hearing loss, battery size and other options.

Types and suitability

Depending on how much of the auricle is filled, we distinguish the following versions of in-the-canal-hearing aids:

⦁ Invisible in the canal – IIC is the type of custom-fit hearing aid which is inserted deeply in the ear canal making it practically invisible once it is in the ear. Despite its components being exceptionally small, it is necessary that the external auditory canal of the potential user meets the minimum necessary measures. They are suitable for mild to moderate hearing loss.

⦁ Completely in Canal – CIC, as the name suggests, are types of hearing aids which fit completely in the ear canal, but like IIC they generally do not offer user control such as push button or volume control. Plate of CIC hearing aids is approximately at the level of the ear canal entrance, and if necessary, a small plastic handle can be installed for inserting or removing the hearing aid. It can be used for mild to moderate hearing loss.

⦁ In-the-canal – ITC hearing aid fills less than half of auricle, and the front plate is slightly bigger than the ear canal entrance. It is the most used custom-made hearing aid. CIC hearing aids often contains directional microphones and can have push button for user control. It can be used for mild to moderate hearing loss.

⦁ In-the-ear – ITE (Full shell – FS or Half Shell – HS) fills entire or half of auricle and is often used when anatomy of the ear or size of the main components disenables the making of the IIC, CIC or ITC type of hearing aids. It can be used for mild to moderate hearing loss.

Why choose “invisibe” hearing aids?

Custom-made hearing aids are made by ear print, therefore they are very comfortable. If you have a suitable anatomy of the ear and if you want a hearing aid which is almost invisible, then IIC type is the right solution for you. If you want more user controls, directional microphones or wireless connectivity to a smartphone, then some other custom-made hearing aid type should be your choice.

Pros

One of the main advantages of custom-made hearing aids is their compact construction, making it easier to put in the ear canal. In addition, there is also less visibility, noticeably in IIC and CIC types, as well as likelihood that you will not have problems with losing them while taking off your face mask.

Custom-made hearing aids are very light and comfortable, and ITC and ITE models are available with directional microphones or the ability to connect wirelessly to a smartphone or TV adapter.

Cons

Sometimes small size can have dual meaning – yes, that type of hearing aid is less visible, but also easier to lose and difficult to handle. It is necessary to have good eyesight and dexterity, and the two of the smallest types (IIC and CIC) use very small batteries that have shorter life.

In case of hearing loss deterioration, there is a possibility that custom-made hearing aids will not be able to give you enough amplification. Also, they cannot be moved to another ear and keeping them clean is sometimes challenging. Finally, they are suitable only for a certain group of users with the right ear anatomy.
