Except for its construction and sound processing, hearing aids can differ in types and styles, and we distinguish them primarily by the part of the ear in which they are placed.
TYPES OF HEARING AID
“Invisible” hearing aids
Compact and simple – Invisible-In-Canal Hearing aids are designed in a unique way so that all components are placed in a custom-made shell and they are completely placed in the ear canal.
There is not a single part that rests behind the ear. These aids are no different from other air-conductive hearing aids since they contain almost the same basic components. The only difference is their shape, but the main components are the same as in Behind-the-ear hearing aids.
They are available in several sizes, which is depending primarily on ear anatomy, but also the degree of hearing loss, battery size and other options.
Receiver-in-the-ear hearing aids
Discreet and light, but powerful and advanced, Receiver-in-the-ear (RITE) or Receiver-in-canal (RIC) are behind-the-ear hearing aid style in which the speaker is separated from the hearing aid housing and placed directly in the user’s ear canal.
Hearing aid is connected with a thin cable, which achieves very discreet look. Soft dome is placed on the speaker and an earmold can be made if necessary.
Behind-the-ear hearing aids
Powerful and flexible, for mild to severe hearing loss, Behind-The-Ear (BTE) hearing aids have their components housed together behind the ear.
Behind-the-ear hearing aid have all required components, but to work properly it requires additional components to transfer sound into the ear canal.
These components consist of an ear hook, tube, and an anatomically shaped earmold placed in the ear canal. Some BTE models can be fitted with thin tube to which comes non-custom silicon dome.
